About The Club Schedule

The Journey That Led Here

I’m Don Teague, and I’ve been a Toastmaster for over 11 years. Like many of you, I’ve worn multiple hats in my club: member, officer, and everything in between. I’m currently serving as Treasurer for Big “D” Toastmasters Club 713 in Dallas, and I’ve held just about every officer role at some point.

During that time, I’ve used just about every scheduling approach out there: an old Windows desktop software program, web-based services, spreadsheets, and everything in between.

Each tool taught me something valuable. I learned what works, what frustrates officers, and what members actually need. But more importantly, I kept noticing the same pattern: every time I wanted to configure scheduling in a specific way for my club, I’d hit a wall. The tools worked great—until they didn’t do exactly what we needed.

The “Aha” Moment

As a VP of Education, I found myself thinking “I wish I could just…” more times than I could count.

  • “I wish I could set up role rotation exactly how our club does it…”
  • “I wish I had more control over who gets assigned when…”
  • “I wish the system understood our club’s unique patterns…”
  • “I wish I could customize this without workarounds…”

Those wishes piled up. And as someone who also happens to develop software, I realized: why not build something that gives clubs the control they actually want?

What I Built—And Why

The Club Schedule was born from years of real-world experience managing Toastmasters schedules, combined with a vision of what modern scheduling could be. This isn’t about reinventing the wheel; it’s about giving clubs a more powerful, flexible wheel that adapts to how they actually operate.

Here’s what drives this platform:

Advanced Role Assignment Logic Years of officer experience taught me that every club has its own rhythm. Some rotate strictly, others have preferences, and many have complex rules about who can do what role. I built sophisticated algorithms that handle these nuances, giving you granular control over exactly how roles are assigned.

Customization Without Compromise Want to schedule 2 meetings at a time? 6? Custom dates only? Different timezone? Your club, your rules. The platform adapts to you, not the other way around.

Built for Real Club Workflows From member absence management to role prerequisites, from admin permissions to schedule options, every feature reflects real challenges I’ve faced as a Toastmaster. This is a tool built by someone who’s been in the trenches.

Modern, Reliable Infrastructure Hosted on DigitalOcean’s App Platform, The Club Schedule combines modern web technology with enterprise-grade reliability. It’s designed to work smoothly whether you’re on a desktop, tablet, or phone.

The Mission Going Forward

My goal is simple: help Toastmasters clubs run more smoothly with less administrative burden. Give officers powerful tools that don’t require a manual to understand. Let members see their commitments clearly and manage their own schedules.

Most importantly, I’m committed to evolving this platform based on what clubs actually need. This project started because I listened to the frustrations and wishes of fellow Toastmasters—including my own. That won’t stop.

Built for Toastmasters, By a Toastmaster

At the end of the day, I’m Don Teague, a Toastmaster first and a developer second. I built The Club Schedule because I wanted it to exist: for my club, for your club, for every club that wants more control and fewer scheduling headaches.

If you’ve ever thought “I wish I could just…” while planning your club’s schedule, this platform might be exactly what you’re looking for.
